Walkease was designed as a preventative hoof treatment. It does not replace the need for traditional blocking with wood or plastic blocks. The goal with Walkease is to get a block on the cow when lameness first appears. This simple no fuss block unlike other block is applied in seconds. It is ultra-important that the Walkease rasp is used to finish the hoof, Walkease glue is applied sparingly and the hoof be put down within 10 seconds.
Walkease was introduced in the US for two reasons:
- To give Dairy’s the opportunity to alleviate lameness when first detected
- To give trimmers an option to correct thin soled cows
